Santa Maria Caves

Santa Maria Caves is a dive site located on the smallest island of Comino. It is a stunning dive site made up of caverns and swim-throughs, caves and overhangs. The dive is perfect for beginner divers, with the maximum depth being 16-18 metres. It is great to explore around the outside of the caves or to fully enter and experience some shallow over-head environments. For safety, we always carry torches with us to light up inside darker spaces and make sure you are comfortable before continuing on.

The site is a typical stopping place for tourist boats, who usually end up feeding the fish bread so very often when you arrive here you are surrounded by sea breams looking for food. We can also find octopus living here, flying gurnards travelling along the sand and nudibranchs living on the rocky reef.

The island of Comino is only accessible by boat so we travel with our own boat, Paola One, to dive here. The site is located on the eastern side of the island so we typically start with this site and navigate around to the Blue Lagoon for our surface interval.
