Inland Sea

Inland Sea is located next to the Blue Hole in Gozo, a 120 metre tunnel that stretches from a small lagoon rock out to the open sea. This a perfect second dive to combine with diving the Blue Hole; they are close enough to each other that you can walk between the two and the dive is mainly along a wall which makes it easy and relaxing.

The tunnel starts in the lagoon very shallow, around 3-4 metres deep but it’s important to start the dive outside of the tunnel and descend because of the tourist boats in the area. Once through the first part of the tunnel, it starts to gradually descend deeper before getting to a maximum depth of 25 metres. Outside of the tunnel, the depth can get down to 50 metres, but we typically keep this dive around 20 metres after having done a deeper dive at blue hole or depending on certification.

When we dive around the Inland Sea, of course the most impressive part of the dive is the tunnel where you have the beautiful blue light entering the far side and creating a perfect backdrop for the dive. As we dive along the wall, we can very often spot octopus, moray eels, sometimes lobsters and nudibranchs. If you have a good air consumption then after 25 minutes swimming towards the left of the tunnel we can find another inlet, with beautiful topography and some swim-throughs to pass.
