About Malta


The Maltese Archipelago lies virtually in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, some 93kms south of the Italian island of Sicily. Yet Malta is just a few hours' flying time from most mainland European cities and has excellent intercontinental connections. Choose from scheduled services or charter flights, many of which offer a convenient departure point from European regional cities.

The national airline, Air Malta, operates flights to and from all the major airports in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, with many low cost airline also offering flights for fantastic prices. The Islands are included in several cruise itineraries and provide an excellent base or stop-over for sailing. You can also get here on a scheduled ferry direct from several Mediterranean ports including Genova, Civitavecchia (mainland Italy) and Pozzallo, Catania, Licata and Palermo (Sicily).

Malta, although a small country, has many amazing things to see and explore above water too! Malta has a very cheap and efficient bus service, with many routes that will provide links to most tourist attractions. Malta was voted the 3rd best dive destination in the World, top in the Med! With over 280km of coast surrounding Malta, Gozo and Comino, Orangeshark knows the best spots.

For Recreational Diving our clear, calm, warm water with its lack of significant tides makes the Maltese Archipelago a diving delight. There are plenty of dive sites easily accessible for all levels of divers. The development of a number of artificial reefs has provided an even wider variety of diving experience.
